Outkast star Andre 3000 has landed in hot water after telling a magazine that he’d like to buy a gun for his 9-year-old son.
The rapper – real name Andre Benjamin – said that his son Steven should carry a gun in future due to the heat of everyday life.
He’s quoted as saying: “I would want my son to carry a gun when he gets older. It’s just something you have got to have if you want to be safe.â€
But anti-gun campaigners have reacted angrily to the comments, saying that a man in his position should not support carrying guns.
A spokesperson for Mothers Against Guns said: “Andre 3000 is idolised by large numbers of young children throughout the world.
“He is glorifying gun culture which has taken over the world and taken our children away from us.
“To say he is going to encourage his son to carry one around when he is older is despicable.â€
