More about:

Hackney’s Moth Club. Once a gentleman’s club, now a favourite venue for comedians and grassroots rockers alike, who all crowd under the glistening gold ceiling and the oft-instagrammed plaque that rules “ALL CHILDREN TO BE OFF THE DANCEFLOOR BY 9.30PM”.

In her new video for ‘The Tide’, Ruthie steps onto said dance floor whilst rocking double denim in the ultimate 80s visuals, her timeless dream-pop sounds floating in and out of the gaps in the venue’s shimmering curtain that sparkles in soft-focus.

Wistfully languid melodies, soaring strings and echoing harmonies produce a sense of euphoria that swells and recedes with the track, while also retaining a certain melancholy. Ruthie has mastered the knack of bittersweet songwriting, tinged with sadness but overall glowing with warmth, like the setting sun after the perfect day.

Watch the visuals here, premiering right now on Gigwise:

Ruthie is gearing up to release her debut EP Universal Heartbreak Now on 22 November.
