More about:

Sliding up and down a spectrum of rock, soul and folk; somewhere at the intersections, you will find Michael Kiwanuka sat on a bench under a tree with his guitar. Today, Kiwanuka shares the latest taste of his forthcoming album Kiwanuka, which will be released on 1 November.

The track opens with soft acoustics that ring powerfully underneath his emotionally-charged vocal, paying homage to those who have influenced his life and the lives of many others, including Marvin Gaye, John Lennon, Martin Luther King and Tupac, who were sadly taken too soon due to violence.

The CC Wade directed visuals narrate the conspiracy of a musician’s death, set in the time of the 60s black liberation movements. “‘Hero’ is a song about how the gems of this world always seem to die young, and how those who are oppressed often seem to have the most to offer us,” Kiwanuka says of the latest offering from the forthcoming album, released via Polydor records.

Michael will play three in-store performances later this month in the UK, and has announced new UK headline dates for 2020 - full list of dates below.
