More about:

SXSW takes place in the legendary city of Austin, Texas from March 16 - 22 next year, and sees established acts converge with emerging performers in a hotbed of creativity and talent. Industry heads and music fans alike are able to explore the international creative community, and see the bands of tomorrow in unique and intimate settings.

The first announcement of artists performing include: master blenders of free jazz and post-punk Black Country, New Road, Nottingham punks Do Nothing, HMLTD’s pissed-off glam-punk-rock, The Murder Capital’s tender post-punk, London based afrobeat 8-piece Kokoroko will also head to Austin, and Qlowski will travel from Italy to play their dark-as-the-night-sky punk.

Elsewhere on the lineup, Gigwise favourites FEET will bring the fun (and the kimonos) to Texas - we loved their debut album so much, we rated it 9/10 and said: “Unless you’re suffering from a dreary and unfortunate state of under-rock residency, you’ll have undoubtedly been streaming FEET’s recent singles on never-tiring repeat.” Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard will also swoop in to the States, their wingspan ever wider reaching as time passes. After having played Gigwise’s stage at Live at Leeds, their fresh take on the classic rock sound will be sure to rock your socks off

The Orielles are also set to play a showcase, with new material from the acclaimed Halifax band imminent. We caught them back in March at Scala, where we said “The band dive into a full and unrelenting discography, boasting of some of the more inventive gems made by a ‘guitar’ band in recent times.” Just Mustard have caught our eye (and our ears) from the very first moment we heard the screeching intro on October, where Katie Ball’s enchanting voice cuts through as smoothly as a hot knife through butter. The Dublin-based band are a goosebump-inducing spectacle live, and the next few months are sure to be very exciting for Just Mustard.

The sounds produced by London-based quintet Weird Milk look back to the 60s in rose-tinted nostalgia, however they’re not lingering in the past; their trajectory is exciting and forward facing, with big support shows and headline performances in the pipeline.

Attendees to SXSW festival also will have access to the conference arm of the SXSW festival, where panels of influential artists and industry leaders will discuss and present on current and future trends. Since its inception in 1987, SXSW has built a strong reputation for building relationships between all arms of the creative industries, and providing platforms and opportunities for networking and discovery alike.
