More about: Ellie Bleach
Ellie Bleach has shared her brand new single 'Jackie O', a catchy, lo-fi synth tune with tongue-in-cheek references to Jackie Onassis-Kennedy and her relationship with JFK by means of lampooning her own flings. The song is out now.
"I'm the saddest girl to ever wear pink tweed" Bleach deadpans over childlike, 70s easy-listening synths, cleverly narrating the time that she was dumped at a fancy dress party while dressed as Jackie O.
Faux-naive and apathetic but charged with fury, the new song is an amazing statement from the alt-pop star and proof of her unique songwriting approach. Her voice and delivery is for fans of Alexandra Saviour and her sound for fans of something totally new. Hear it:
'Jackie O' is the third single from the London-based artist, and the second self-release. It's an acidic but self-aware takedown of the "JFK" that dumped her at the costume party for someone else dressed as Janis Joplin, harking back to Kennedy's real-life rumoured trysts.
It's a thrilling, lovable single from Ellie Bleach and a very promising sound for the future.
