More about: Alison Mosshart
Alison Mosshart has released a brand new cut for us mere mortals. 'It Ain't Water' is a brooding, sinister blues single that signals the release of a special 7" record - with 'Rise' as side A.
Paranoid and smoking, 'It Ain't Water' is all about the Americana. Hear country, blues and good old rock'n'roll in the tendrils of smoke that rise from Mosshart's vocal and tentative guitar sounds.
"It ain't water that I want" she sings, mirroring our own experience of lockdown quite neatly.
Previously released 'Rise' - Mosshart's debut solo single - will sit alongside 'It Ain't Water' in a special Domino 7" release, coming in physical form this July.
Mosshart recorded the new song with Queens of the Stone Age and PJ Harvey collaborator Alain Johannes: "Working with Alain on 'It Ain’t Water' was a blast. He’s such a talent and such a kind person" she said of the experience.
The accompanying visuals were created by Mosshart - who is also a painter, writer and photographer - herself. It shows the prolific songwriter frolic alone in her house, drunk and half-mad in quarantine.
The 'Rise'/'It Ain't Water' 7" is available from 31 July via Domino. Pre-order now here.
