A third solo Orlando Weeks track arrived this morning in the form of 'Milk Breath'. Opener to forthcoming album A Quickening, Weeks introduces themes of fatherhood in a soft, folktronica hum on his new release - the most joyous of his singles to date.

"My son, my son" - Weeks returns to these words as a refrain throughout a song that builds with smart percussion and heavenly orchestral cinema. Easily imagine an emotional montage scene of childbirth in a film with Weeks' songwriting: the ex-Maccabee has truly plumbed the depths of human feeling.
Following on the heels of the transcendent 'Blood Sugar' and fragile 'Safe In Sound', 'Milk Breath' further indicates an impressive solo album.

Explaining the emotion behind 'Milk Breath', Weeks said: “This is about watching my son sleep...A cracked twig in the street below is like a slammed cutlery drawer. A car alarm half a mile away might as well be in the room with you. But your baby is asleep and at peace and slowly you are too.”
Created with an old Weeks collaborator Nic Nell, A Quickening will focus on themes of fatherhood: it was written as the artist expected his first son.
On the project, Weeks commented: "I was trying to find a course through something that happens all the time, but still feels exceptional."
