'I'm so afraid to die alone'

More about:

LA-based French artist SOKO shares the first single written in her native language this morning. 'Blasphémie' is a woozy, sensual bedroom pop song that makes up the last release ahead of her new LP Feel Feelings, out in June.

Considered and soft with a barbed undercurrent, the new single delivers its meaning remarkably well, even to the non-French speaker. About loss and regret, 'Blasphémie' twists with a pain tinged with apathy.

And that bassline! Who could resist?

On the track, SOKO said: "This is the first song I’ve ever written in French. Essentially this song is about taking something beautiful and ruining it, and knowing you ruined it, but there is nothing you can do.”

Here's a little translation for you: "I'm so afraid to die alone/To fall asleep/Without ever waking up./Without the familiar embrace/Of your skin that has no mystery."
