More about:

Boniface has released a new single called ‘Happy Birthday’, their first since the release of their self-titled debut album in February.

A song made for this unique time in history, ‘Happy Birthday’ was born of how the tradition has been affected in lockdown, with many of us not being able to see our loved ones and friends. So instead, Boniface made a pop song that makes us slightly more optimistic that the next one we have probably won’t be as lonely.

The video for the song features people from around the world celebrating birthdays and having parties from the comfort of their own homes. On the inspiration for the track Boniface said, “I celebrated my birthday in isolation on 22 April, it was an odd one and didn’t really seem appropriate. I was so lucky to have a safe place to isolate, but it was still an anxious, lonely birthday and I’m sure this experience wasn’t unique to me.” Watch the video below:

“The idea for the music video stemmed from that, celebrations in isolation, seen through computer screens and video messages and it goes out to everyone trying to connect or find some joy given the circumstances.”
