Attawalpa’s sound is a kaleidoscopic walk through life, and on new track ‘Done Hanging On’, he reveals an anthem for moving on. The honest, comforting cut is a compelling look at “cold realities of love in an instant world”.

Not too long after releasing his psychedelic debut EP Spells earlier this year, Attawalpa has stormed back into our lives with melancholic bop ‘Done Hanging On’. Singing the lyric “lying here with the road kill”, Attawalpa’s truthful look at heartbreak and defeat packs a punch.

With a light sprinkling of backing vocals and a jangly, beach-ready melody, it’s a fun take on a gloomy subject. He keeps the energy up with a ‘woo!’ – a bit like that post-break up feeling that has you cry dancing at the club.

“’Done Hanging On’ is simply a track about letting go. I wrote the song on my dad’s piano. It was quite emotional as I was listening to a lot of Elliot Smith’s ‘XO’ at the time” Attawalpa said of the track.

‘Done Hanging On’ is our first glimpse at Attawalpa’s next EP Patterns.
