Inspired choice, lads

Irish indie-pop huns Inhaler have covered cult hit 'Fade Into You' by Mazzy Star. It's an inspired choice for a group on the fringes of pop and on the brink of stardom: Inhaler die hards will lap it up while the dedication will onboard a slew of new fans.

Quite true to the original, Inhaler's version of 1993 cut 'Fade Into You' is a woozy, slow-motion tribute. Focusing on that gentle guitar strum, it passes through lazy tambourine and those drug-addled slide guitar transcendents with slippery ease.

The accompanying video is a similarly bleary statement: the band flicker in and out of focus in the gaze of a kaleidoscope's lens. Indie to a fault, there's a Libertines T-shirt in the mix and your ubiquitous single earring situation...

The cover acts as a B-side to recent single 'Falling In', a Bryan Adams-indebted banger that "continues to build on Inhaler's nostalgic reputation". That was shared in May, and the group have been pretty quiet since: this is the first release and one of the only public statements the band have made all year.

Chances are they're quietly planning world domination.
