A lovely cover to add to the list of this year's best today: Franz Ferdinand's Alex Kapranos has teamed up with Clara Luciani to cover the Nancy Sinatra/Lee Hazlewood classic 'Summer Wine'.

Bilingual and gorgeous, the cover is true to the original in its dramatic - almost extreme - sensuality. Both vocal performances hark back to Hazlewood and Sinatra with vintage care, though of course the female turn is this time rendered in French.

A stunning video shot in the desert joins the duet, with the artists falling at each other's feet in the dying blue light of sunset. It's delectably romantic and not a little steamy. It's also a sweet dedication to the pasttime of karaoke.

See it:

Back in October, Clara asked me to join her on stage at the Olympia in Paris, where we first sang Summer Wine together. We are both big fans of Lee and Nancy, and enjoyed the interaction that the song allows you. Clara translated the chorus into French, and the performance is bilingual, which really suits the son" Alex commented.

The pair have previously played the show on stage at Paris' Olympia.
