Warmer toned than the previous cut, 'Magpie' starts sparsely and gathers layers as it rolls uphill towards the sunlight. You can hear the Cornwall landscape in the watery guitars and peaceful intonation - the images are paralleled in accompanying visuals shot by A Blaze of Feather himself.
It's a voice to get lost in and a world to escape into:
"It’s a kind of love letter to West Cornwall where I’m from, so it speaks for the whole record in a way. There’s a wild old energy about the place. Mischief in the air coloured with lost things," A Blaze of Feather aka Mickey Smith said.
"The local clubs are the Magpies or the Pirates. Kind of sums up the vibe one way or another down here."
