More about:

The latest single from his upcoming album Softcore Mourn (out 16 July), ‘sugar ray’ captures all there is to love and more about pizzagirl. Truly wonderful stuff.

Rife with his signature surrealism, woozy synths and a perfect music to noise balance, ‘sugar ray’ is brilliant. It’s not just in the familiar pizzagirl features where it shines however. The track's final act erupts into a thrashing blend of wholehearted guitar and striking cymbals offering an emotional punch in the face before fading into silence, leading to you doing the only thing you can, stick it on again.

On this tune pizzagirl noted:

“It’s not really a break up song this time, but from a moment a few months after perhaps. Maybe it’s wishful thinking, but I’d like to think that you and that old flame from many phones ago still listen to that one really bad song from time to time, and maybe it’s this one. Who knows?”
