Lav’s signature vocal delivery shines through in these harrowing instances of toska; the double release of 'Sardine Song/Spirit Ditch'

Lav’s discography is wrought with many moving encounters, with these two tracks being no different. Capturing millions of intricate emotions, 'Sardine Song’ ebbs and flows in and out of sorrow, detailing an immense first love that wasn’t meant to be. ‘

Spirit Ditch’ embodies the melancholy of the Sparklehorse original, but manages to add a whole new layer of rawness, whilst a tape gently hisses in the background.

On ‘Spirit Ditch’, Lav has said:

“(This may be TMI) but last suicide attempt I made, I woke up and realized I’d left my Spotify playlist on very loud, and this song was playing. I felt it was a sign, being that my attempt was not successful and how Linkous ended his life; a sign that my story wasn’t over. Parallels to our lives have continued to inspire me to use music and writing as a coping mechanism.”
