LUMP (Laura Marling and Mike Lindsay) have just shared the next track from their upcoming album Animal, which will be released 30 July on Partisan/Chrysalis. It’s accompanied by a music video with a very special appearance from the project’s titular creature.

‘We Cannot Resist’ switches up the energy with an infectious pop chorus to the bass-driven creeper whisper of “we cannot resist”. The music video sees the duo wandering through a snowy forest, encountering a mystical rainbow monster. Both musician shine in the track, from Marling’s beloved vocal style to Lindsay’s electronic sounds.

Laura Marling explains the song:

“This is another one about hedonism. But it was tricky because it’s such American imagery. I remember we had to stop and start and redo quite a lot of the lyrical takes because saying things like ‘Down to burn rubber’ are quite awkward to say in an English accent.”
