London’s Kay Young has today shared her first single since last year’s Middle Matters EP. ‘White Teeth’ was produced, written and recorded by Kay herself, and sees her shine as a performer and a musician.

Kay Young finds a balance between smooth vocals and hard-hitting lyrics that stand out against easy-going loops. In ‘White Teeth’, she pairs the lessons she learned as a young child about how racism would impact her life, with the mantra “I’ve got superpowers”. She said about the track:

“White Teeth is a bittersweet song. I wanted the listener to see the world through the eyes of an innocent child who is yet to face adversity simply for the colour of their skin”.

‘White Teeth’ is out now on Play It Again Sam.
