Y Not Festival is the latest to fall to the incompetence of the government; this morning (1 July) it announces its cancellation for a second year running due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

As evidenced in their statement, Y Not were unable to go ahead this year due to a lack of guidance and support from the government. "We have now been placed in an extremely awkward position," they wrote. "We are yet to receive the government's guidance from their pilot schemes and the lack of a government backed insurance package, amidst rising Covid cases both locally and nationally makes us unable to fully commit to the next stages of planning."

"We now find ourselves in a position where we are unable to commit to the build of the site, as we have no solid guarantee of it being allowed to take place" they added.

Y Not Festival will now take place 29-31 July 2022. Tickets already purchased for 2021 will be valid next year.
