Vanessa Gimenez, formerly of Swimming Girls, has today released another solo single, ‘Doing Better’. With it comes the announcement that her debut Make It Rain EP will be released 12 August.

'Doing Better' is a melancholic post-breakup song that looks at the disintegration of a relationship, created with a smooth soundscape and delicately layered vocals. While it is a deeply personal song, she manages to make it universally relatable by applying lyrics to many aspects of modern life:

"‘Doing Better’ is a post-breakup song at its core. But the message can be applied to many things in today’s society,” she says. “I feel like a lot of people feel the need to ‘one-up’ each other, probably because of things like social media toxicity. It is really funny though when you remove yourself from it and just observe people being weird."
