Providing another tease before the release of their debut album on 20 May, Body Type share 'Buoyancy'. With a sun-soaked video, the Australian band continues to keep us hooked.

In their signature style, merging riot grrl punk instrumentals with humour-filled lyricism, ‘Buoyancy’ is everything we love about cool girl rock. And the fact that the track was born out of a collaborative poem in a text conversation between members; even cooler.

Talking about the track, Georgia said; “In many ways, the song is about grappling with internal inconsistencies and moral ambiguities in an incoherent style. It's had a few iterations - when I brought it to the group it had more of a slow Big Star spirit. Soph and Annabel made it more angular, more tongue in cheek with the guitar, which further injects the song with distorted meaning. It’s also a personal reminder that when certain things are rendered uncertain those you love are an eternal rudder.”

Perfectly encapsulating the band's spirit, Buoyancy is strange and fun in equal doses, imbued with the Aussie attitude of prioritising your leisure, and saying tongue in cheek.

With their debut coming later this year, Body Type also feature in our third issue due to drop on 23 April.

Body Type's debut album Everything Is Dangerous But Nothing's Surprising is out 20 May via Poison City Records
