More about: Samia
Samia returns! Just in time for sad girl season, Tennessee by-way-of NYC songwriter Samia has announced her second album, Honey. And if that’s not good enough news, we’re also finally getting a run of shows, bringing Samia to the UK and Europe for the first time!
Sharing the lead single, ‘Kill Her Freak Out’, the track picks up where the brutal lyrical honesty of The Baby left off. Talking about the track, Samia said “I wrote ‘Kill Her Freak Out’ at my loneliest and most delusional”, so that gives you a sense of where we’re at here. “I’d been quieting my true feelings for fear that someone would leave. The chorus is a reaction to constantly downplaying the emotions that felt wrong; it was cathartic to say the opposite of what I’d been saying for so long to this person I was trying to impress. I didn’t want to kill anyone, obviously, I just wanted to yell. It sort of marks the end of The Baby’s story.”
Instrumentally stripped back but lyrically huge, Kill Her Freak Out is a moorish teaser that already has up primed and prepped for more. Set for release on 27th January 2023, no doubt it’ll be the perfect soundtrack for the tail-end of a long winter with the excitement keeping us going through the cold months.
