Back at Neighbourhood festival, STONE had us hooked. The liverpool four-piece fill such a notable gap, grabbing that Stone Roses nostalgia with their accent-heavy rock and running with it into the future. This isn’t boring c’mon you know, bucket hat blah - this is something fresh.

And with the new track ‘Money (Hope It Ain't Gone)’, that thought is only solidified. Moving from slowed down 90s rock inspired pre-choruses into a chorus that takes every sub-genre from Pulpy electro pop and Nirvana pure grunge and sets it all into hyper speed. Angry without boiling over into a mess, STONE has a distinct way of stepping into total frenzy mode without loosening on their musical tightness. So when we say this is a intricate song full of different layers that reveal themselves more and more - that’s not to say it won’t send people wild at a live show.

Also announcing their debut EP Punkadonk, arriving in November - the band are definitely strapped in for a rise. Already gaining the attention of Sam Fender, YUNGBLUD and Louis Tomlinson, it’s interesting that the shoulders they stand on are all northern giants. Filled their music with such an obvious identity of Northern angst and anger, we’ll soon here STONE blasting from garages all through the suburbs up there.

Talking about their upcoming EP and their music in general, the band said: “Our music is just a conduit to all the emotion that we all feel. We're living in this scary sensational world of social media, where everything is overexposed and overwhelming. But we're all in it as a generation. Me and Fin have our own struggles with mental health, and I think that’s why we do what we do with such an intensity; we put up that part of ourselves onstage just to give kids an opportunity to connect with something.”

Punkadonk arrives November.
