After a chaotic week in the UK, the up-tempo, brit-funk inspired music of STR4TA that takes influence from an eclectic mix of genres is surprisingly one the most grounded thing you’ll experience today. The song sees Gilles Peterson and his new wave funk project team up Nu-Jazz aficionado and vocal sensation, Emma-Jean Thackray.

The track opens up with Thackray chanting a harmonic ‘Lazy Days’ before a burst of funk pierces through the track and takes us to a salsa-driven haven that’s anything but lazy. It comes out ahead of STR4TA’s new album 'STR4TASFEAR', which promises to bring listeners an exciting blend of genres and features innovative names in music such as Omar, Valeria Etienne and of course, Emma-Jean Thackray.

The album is going to be a nod to an often looked-over genre of music, Brit-Funk. It was originally popular in the 70’s and 80’s but since then seems to be glossed over due to the fact it is not as well documented as other genres from the time. The sound is an exciting blend of different influences which can clearly be heard in the up-tempo and unpredictable delivery of ‘Lazy Days’.

The open-endedness of what can be achieved within this genre and the fact Gilles Peterson seems unwilling to limit himself creatively makes STR4TA’s new album one of the most anticipated toward the back end of the year.

The upcoming album STR4TASFEAR will be released on 11th November.
