Shame have today released what is probably one of their greatest songs and most ambitious and well executed videos ever made. ‘Fingers of Steel’ is a gritty and heavy banger with layered vocals and exciting production, which comes accompanied with a thought-provoking music video, directed by James Humby.

In it, we see the band line up outside of a small warehouse before walking in and passing cobweb covered instruments. Throughout the rest of the video the band become obsessed with the idea of trending, creating fake profiles and leaving fabricated comments at the demand of a tyrannical leader (frontman Charlie Steen).

“Self-obsession, social media flagellation and death can all be seen in this Oscar nominated performance,” said Steen, “No one’s ever done a video like this before and when you watch it, you’ll see why. Think Casablanca, but in colour, and better”.

The release of the new single comes with an announcement that the band are going to be releasing their third album, ‘Food for Worms’ in 2023 as well as embarking on their biggest ever European headline tour. The band have had a very successful past few years, especially following the release of the critically acclaimed ‘Drunk Tank Pink’ and it is clear they want to continue to develop creatively and expand their reach moving forward.

‘Fingers of Steel’ gives us exciting insight into the sound that Shame are going for with their new album and the video shows they aren’t willing to shy away from any subject matter in their work.
