More about:

There’s sad girl music, and then there’s deeply-paining, day-ruining, heart-wrenching sad girl music, and Emma Bradley is unleashing the latter. Following up indie-pop guitar offering ‘Renew Me’, her new track ‘Square One’ sees a revived return to her piano ballad origin, now in an elevated form.

It’s exactly the thing that captured attention on her 2021 EP Perfumed By You, as Emma’s sharp lyricism takes centre stage. Spiralling around the simplicity of “I wish i could just let you go”, the piano ballad takes off into an atmospheric masterpiece around the halfway mark in a way that's sure to have any heartbroken person sliding down doors and crying on the floor. So please, proceed with caution.

But despite the simplicity, there’s something unique in the mix here. Mixing a classic piano ballad opener, with folky guitars and a jazz-tinged RnB beat coming in later - it defies any one path to master them all.

With hopefully more to come in 2023, ‘Square One’ is out now.
