When you’re a fan of music, there are a number of different things that might appeal to you. This could be a particular style, sound, attitude or ethos; however, generally speaking, live tunes, positive impact and good beer rides high on a lot of gig lovers lists. This is exactly what SON Estrella Galicia and Paper Dress Vintage will be bringing fans on 24th November as they team up with Deadletter and Melenas for what promises to be a night to remember.

“We will have a couple of beers to get warm before taking to the stage,” said Spanish garage fuzz pop group Melenas, “we have played in London twice but never in Hackney, so it looks like it’s gonna be fun.”

SON Estrella Galicia have been putting on these kinds of events since 2009 in an attempt to offer a fun twist on the traditional concert experience. As winter creeps in, the promise of a night of beer and tapas in a bid to be transported to somewhere a bit warmer is incredibly enticing. “We live in Pamplona, which is a pretty cloudy and rainy city, so we live under similar weather conditions,” said Melenas, “but we will bring all of our energy to share with all the people who are going to be there!”

Melanas are taking to the smaller stage of Paper Dress Vintage after a long and successful year of performing on larger platforms and at festivals around the world. This more intimate setting is perfect for the band who said, “we love playing in smaller venues where you can be close to the audience. Seeing the faces of the people who are listening to you helps you feel a better connection”.

They will be playing alongside UK punk outfit Deadletter, who promise to deliver “a display of some of our newest material as well as some golden oldies”. Deadletter’s newest EP ‘Heat!’ has been met with praise from critics and fans alike. “Once you start to understand people personally it becomes much easier to understand them creatively,” they said discussing the newest EP and working together in general, “we all listen to different types of music, which I think is important”.

Both bands are incredibly excited to be playing, Melanas commented on the venue saying, “we can’t wait to be there, to walk around Hackney, look for a treasure at Paper Dress Vintage, share the stage with Deadletter and see you all there to have a beer together!”

This is reciprocated by the venue. Co-owner Stephen Dix commented, “we’re buzzing to be hosting some of the most exciting new bands on the scene at the moment… it’s increasingly difficult for artists to tour internationally these days and we’re happy to be a part of giving them a platform”.

That same buzz is shared by Deadletter, who when asked if they were excited to take to the stage for this event said, “we are indeed”.
