More about: H.L Grail
God loves a solo project and Holly Mullineaux of Goat Girl is launching a great one. Under the name H.L Grail, the band’s bass player has announced her debut EP Island, arriving Feb 10th.
Using the solo project as a way to decompress after a hectic touring schedule, the second single of the project ‘OTD’ reflects that best with an endlessly chill feeling. Despite the frantic subject matter of desperately trying to switch up a sad situation, the sound veers towards dream-pop and soft indie, citing Adrienne Lenker as a key inspiration.
Talking about the track, Holly said: “‘OTD’ is a shortening of the phrase “on the double”, meaning as fast as physically possible. It’s about trying to fix a deeply broken relationship and wanting things to change quickly and dramatically. It came from letting my mind wander to somewhere warm and far away, falsely believing that a change of scenery was the answer to our problems.”
