More about:

It’s a strange, the music that comes with the emo world, isn’t it? Heavy, but light, but motivational, but gloomy, all bunged up into one and thrown in some converse. Enter Shikari keep that classic sound coming with their newest single ‘It Hurts’.

The rhythm of the booming distorted guitars is interesting. They invite a head bang but are also slightly off kilter, late or early to the beat as if inspired by Jazz somewhat. The lyrics are layered and drowned in different effects at times, sounding slightly like The Lonely Island occasionally, and the motivational bridge is… interesting.

Overall, the song delivers exactly the kind of thing that Enter Shikari fans would want to see. It’s heavy and laced with electronic music, sporadic and exciting. Similar to the first single they released off this new album ‘(pls) set me on fire’ the band remind emo fans everywhere why they got and have maintained their current status as big hitters.

It Hurts came to me in a dream. Literally.” Said Rou Reynolds, “Melody, chords, and fully formulated chorus were all part of a dream that, thankfully, remained with me when I woke up. I was hiding under the duvet at 3AM, singing it into my phone, much to the bewilderment of my girlfriend.”

The new album ‘A Kiss For The Whole World’ comes out on 21st April and if these first two singles are anything to go by, it will be a treat for all Enter Shikari fans.
