More about: Dead Slow Hoot
Dead Slow Hoot have flown under the radar for too long. Gaining a big reputation for big sounds on the Sheffield live scene, the band are now london based and only getting better. Now sharing their first new track since their 2021 album A Kinder Kind, we’re wading into country waters…
Trying to describe the Dead Slow Hoot sound is tricky. Dive into their back catalogue and you’ll find everything from catchy indie on ‘You belong to no-one (but i belong to you)’, to pure experimental wonder on tracks like ‘Returning To Ruin’ or heavier influences on ‘Taller Trees’. With singer Hugo’s voice merging tones of Thom Yorke and Matt Berniger, but british - it’s all a big melting pot of the darker side of alt-indie.
But on ‘The Moistest Beak’, the sun is shining a little more. Playing around with twangly (yeah, real word) country sounds and a rhythm you can line dance to, it’s so different but so distinctly them.
Hopefully with more music to come asap, i envy anyone about to discover them for the first time - what a treat!
