More about: Cartwright
When we travel, we pick up on different things, discover other aspects of ourselves and also draw inspiration from our surroundings. That very thing happened to Cartwright recently on a solo trip round the Scottish Highlands, and the result of as much is the brand new indie folk single, ‘Into The Wild’, which is an absolute pleasure to listen to.
Recently, Cartwright hopped in his campervan and went on a drive around the Scottish Highlands. In doing so, he sought refuge in a small fishing lodge which his father used to visit, discovering a brand new branch of musical direction rooted in his family as a result. He climbs along this branch and explores it in more detail in ‘Into The Wild,’ which is a slow indie folk song, laced with calm production and poetic lyricism.
“To record ‘Into The Wild’ we actually headed off away from London into the depths of the Devon countryside to a place called Middle Farm Studios,” said Cartwright, ”Middle Farm is one of my favourite recording spots, it’s a lovely laid back studio complex nestled away in the foothills of Dartmoor and was absolutely perfect for the mood we were going for with these songs.”
This is absolutely true, as despite listening to the record and writing this in an office in Camden, there is a campfire and unknown journey sensation that rings true with every note. “We needed a little bit of wilderness,” Cartwright confirms, “and I definitely think we found it.”
