More about: Hot Wax
Booming onto the scene as a major new one-to-watch, Hot Wax have been quickly captivating attention. Fresh out of school, the trio are bringing pure, unadulterated raging angst on a level we haven't heard in a while. And new track, ‘Rip It Out’, is a perfect example.
A punk rager about the emotional chaos of contraception, Hot Wax put their riot grrl energy on full display here. With slow, sultry verses exploding into a no-holds-back chorus, we saw first hand how hard this song goes live as we caught their set at The Great Escape.
Talking about the track, lead singer Tallulah said: “‘Rip It Out’ is the darkest song I have ever written. The lyrics came to me so fast, at a time I was feeling psychotic due to the contraceptive implant. I wanted to create a dramatic, theatrical, melancholic sounding piece, which Lola put together perfectly. I hope it resonates with women who have gone through a similar thing and raises awareness about how contraception needs to be updated.” Here, here!
Hot Wax’s debut EP, A Thousand Times, arrives May 19th.
