A blown tyre may have caused the plane crash which killed four passengers and left former Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker and musical partner DJ-AM with burns, it has been revealed.
As previously reported, the Learjet careered off the runway in Columbia, South Carolina late on Friday night.
Debbie Hersham from investigators the National Transportation Safety Board said that the crew tried to abort the take-off but to no avail.
She said: "The crew reacted to a sound that was consistent with a tyre blowout."
The doctor who is looking after Travis Barker and DJ AM (real name Adam Goldstein) warned that their second and third degree burns could take a year to heal.
Barker suffered burns to his torso and lower body, while Goldstein was burned on his hands and head.
The pair had earlier been performing a concert in Columbia under their moniker TRVSDJ-AM.
The pilot, co-pilot and two passengers have been confirmed as the fatalities in the crash.
