- More Michael Jackson
Fans of Michael Jackson have begun hijacking eBay users attempting to sell tickets to the singer's memorial service in Los Angeles tomorrow.
Dozens of tickets have appeared on the auction website in the last 24 hours, despite organisers attempts to prevent them exchanging hands on the secondary market.
Prices on eBay currently range from $137.50 to $999.00 for a pair of tickets.
However, a number of Jackson's fans appear to have placed hoax bids on some lots. One ongoing auction currently has a highest bid of over $49million.
A spokesperson for eBay had not replied to Gigwise's request for comment when this story went to press.
Tickets for Jackson's public memorial, which will take place at the Staples Centre, were allocated after fans were asked to register online.
More than 1.6million people had applied for a just 9,000 pairs of tickets by the time the registration process closed yesterday, organisers said.
In a bid to prevent people selling their tickets, organisers have asked fans collecting tickets to bring relevant ID.
However, only the ticket winner will be required to put on their wristband immediatly, effectively giving them the opportunity to sell their second on.
At present, there has been no official confirmation as to who will attend Jackson's memorial, although reports have suggested the singer's brothers could reunite on stage.
Michael Jackson died on June 25 following a suspected cardiac arrest at his home in Los Angeles. He was 50.
