Michael Jackson's new album 'Michael' has received a mixed response from critics.
The album, which is due to be released later this month, was previewed at a playback in London yesterday (December 1).
It boasts several new songs, including the Akon-featuring 'Hold My Hand' and 'Monster', which stars 50 Cent.
The album has already come under fire from the late singer's relatives – and critics have been left divided.
The Sun said the LP was “pretty disappointing and not a patch on his era-defining albums 'Off The Wall', 'Thriller' and 'Bad'”.
The Independent said many of the songs “simply fade away, without any proper endings, rather like the man himself”.
But the Daily Mirror was favourable about the release, describing it was “not half bad”.
The ten-track album also includes a collaboration with Lenny Kravtiz, and is released on December 14.

- WTF is the point of comparing everything to Thriller, he can't make another one!!!!!!!!!!!!!, his other works are so underrated they are amazing as well, it's so unfair all of these reviews, they take away all his credit for great songs. Thriller was a curse for Michael in many ways
- Yeah I agree, anything after thriller was considered poor even though it was better than most music out at the time. It's like people are praised for releasing poor music just because they haven't released a "thriller" album.

- HIStory album (1995) is MJ´s second most commercially successful album after Thriller - in sales=23 mill. copies of the double album means 46 mill. pieces of the album, and that means over $100 mill. profit for MJ.
Albums like BAD and Dangerous reached 35 mill. copies sold since the release date...

AF FOR THE NEW ALBUM - it was not Michael himself who created and produced the album.
It was somebody else, NOT MICHAEL otherwise the album would be totally diff
- Not only were the albums after Thriller criticized, but just because they sold fewer than Thriller they were deemed failures, even though they sold far more than most other artists were.
