Alan McGee: I Thought Liam Gallagher Was A Drug Dealer

Alan McGee has revealed that before he signed Oasis he mistook singer Liam Gallagher for a drug dealer.

In an interview with The Sun, the Creation Records boss said he made the mistake before he saw the band perform live for the first time in Glasgow.

“Oasis were on first, before most people arrived. There was this amazing young version of Paul Weller sat there in a light blue Adidas tracksuit,” he said.

“I assumed he was the drug dealer and that Bonehead, the guitarist, was the singer.

"It was only when they went on stage I realised it was the lead singer Liam Gallagher. I knew I had to sign them.”

McGee added he secured a deal to sign the band after discussing terms with Noel Gallagher backstage after the gig.
