Katy Perry has thanked her fans after she became the first woman to secure five number ones off one album on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
The singer equalled the record held by Michael Jackson with her latest effort, 'Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)'.
In a statement to Billboard, she said: “Hitting No. 1 is always a great moment, but when it turns into a small piece of history, you're reminded of how many millions of people are connected to each other by even one tiny event
“Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen. Ever since I was 9 years old, singing into my hairbrush, I've dreamed very big dreams, but today is bigger than my dreams. What a nice first birthday present for 'Teenage Dream'!"
All of the singles appear on Perry's most recent album 'Teenage Dream'.
It is widely expected that the star will now release a sixth track in a bid to secure the outright record.
