The former Creation Boss speaks about incident...
Alan McGee, the founder of Creation Records, has said he found last month's fire at the Sony DADC warehouse “funny”.
McGee is quoted as making the statement during a speech at the Australian music industry conference, BigSound, according to The Music.
When asked about the fire, McGee, who signed the likes of Oasis and Primal Scream, is said to have replied: “I read that the Sony PIAS Building burnt down. I'm probably the only person who thought that was funny. I call that a result.
“Got rid of all the sh*t music. And you get paid for it, the stuff you couldn’t sell.”
Last month, Sony said that they were making 1.5 million new CDs in the UK and Austria after the fire destroyed its stock warehouse in North London.
The incident occurred in the middle of the riots that affected towns and cities across England.
