    Adele Breaks The Beatles, Pink Floyd Chart Record

    Not content with her nineteen week stint at the top of the British Album Charts, singer Adele is now enjoying her sixteenth week at the top of the U.S Billboard Chart with second album ‘21’.

     Matching the success of the Titanic Soundtrack , Adele is the first British artist to spend so long at the top of U.S Chart. 

    Her album ‘21’ beat classics such as The Beatles ‘Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band’ and Pink Floyd’s ‘The Wall’ both of which held previously held the record with fifteen weeks each.

    The album has now sold 6 million copies stateside bringing the albums current selling total to over 17 million copies worldwide. Adele’s second album ‘21’ is to celebrate its first birthday next week.

    Adele is up for the categories of Best British Female, Best British Single and Mastercard's revered Album Of The Year Award at next month's BRIT Awards.

    The Arctic Monkeys, Chase & Status, Coldplay, Elbow and Kasabian are all up for Best British Group.

    Ed Sheeran, James Blake, James Morrison, Noel Gallagher, and Professor Green are all up for Best British Male.

    The Brit Awards 2012 will take place on the February 21 at London's O2 arena.
