Scissor Sisters' Jake Shears has condemned Azealia Banks' use of 'f*ggot' to Perez Hilton on Twitter.

Banks used the word towards Hilton after he criticised her argument with fellow rapper Angel Haze, and told him, "omg u should just kill yourself… Like for real… lol what a messy f*ggot you are."

Jake Shears has now spoken out about Banks' use of the word on his Twitter account, writing in a series of tweets, "Oh yeah. "F*ggot." Totally cool. Give me a fucking break.

"It all about context. And right now, I'm sorry, but context is not on your side.

"Donna Summer was ostracized for a decade from words she used about her gay fans. Too bad she didn't have twitter to recant them immediately."

The above tweet has since been removed from Azealia Banks' Twitter account

Shears previously collaborated with Banks on the Scissor Sisters track 'Shady Love'.

The song has uncredited vocals from Banks and was co-written by her and Shears.

Scissor Sisters' bandmember Babydaddy said of the track, "It's a song we had fun making so while it wasn't necessarily true to the direction of the album or what most people might think of as Scissors, we thought it would be good to just get out there in between albums."
