Haim brought a little Californian sunshine along for their glorious return to Glastonbury festival - made even more victorious after bassist Este Haim's dramatic dice with diabetes last year.
The rain relented and the sun shone down for the sisters Haim's set - as they delivered a succinct but brilliant dose of RnB-infused Americana from their breakthrough debut album, Days Are Gone - with covers of Fleetwood Mac and Beyonce thrown in for good measure.
Introducing their cover of 'XO' by Beyonce, bassist and queen of the bass face Este Haim said: "The last time we were here, I was on stage saying 'this is the best moment of my life', when suddenly I nearly had a seizure because I'm diabetic.
"I had to go side stage, because it could have been my best and my last moment."
The three sisters, clearly driven by overcoming the adversity of 2013 to bring in a remarkably successful year, seemed humbled by the passionate and ecstatic response they received - with guitarist Alana invading the front row while Este at one point challenged the crowd to 'shake their asses like no other festival', should she lose a '100 quid' bet with a roadie.
Yup, it was pretty awesome - and we're sure that Haim will be headlining UK festivals by 2016. They brought fun, class, a whole lotta sass to Glasto. Tonight will be remembered as a victory for Haim, despite to overbearing smell of faeces and the fact that it smashed it down in biblical proportions moments after they left the stage. This was the doom-mongering cloud that caused all the madness:
Tonight continues with some rain, as well as performances from Interpol, Lily Allen, Elbow, Arcade Fire and many more. Check back at Gigwise for the latest on-site Glastonbury news, reviews, photos and updates.
