Two members of Doves have launched new side-project, Black Ships  - and have debuted their first song 'The Ship'.Listen to the song below.

The band is made up of two thirds of legendary Manc indie heroes Doves, with brothers Jez and Andy Williams branching off to form their own outfit.

Recording away from the limelight and frontman Jimi Goodwin's recent solo venture, they have come back with a dark and electronic infused track in the form of 'The Ship'. It is available for download through their official website.

Speaking of the new venture, Jez said: “Some bands are rooted in the reality of the here and now. I suppose we’ve always been about escapism: searching for something. That’s the link, but I wouldn’t want to think we sound too much like Doves. The exciting thing about Black Rivers is that we had the freedom to go wherever we wanted.”

Black Rivers will soon make their live debut with two warm-up shows with Neon Waltz at Gullivers in Manchester (31 July) and Liverpool’s The Shipping Forecast (1 August), before heading to Kendal Calling (2Aug) and Belsonic festivals (18 August). For more information visit Gigwise Tickets
