As well as achieving this honour, Sheeran has also distinguished himself by having the longest consecutive chart-topping run for a British male solo act since James Blunt's Back To Bedlam.
Elsewhere on the album chart, Dolly Parton's Blue Smoke - The Best Of remains at the second place in the chart, following her outstanding performance at this year's Glastonbury. George Ezra, Sam Smith and Paolo Nutini all remain in the top ten.

'Rude' is set to become one of the biggest selling songs worldwide this year, having entered the Top Ten in Australia, Denmark, Iceland, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Canada and Sweden as well as topping the US Chart.
Former X Factor contestant Ella Henderson has impressively remained in the top five week for another week, with her debut track 'Ghost'. Fellow talent show contestants Bars and Melody, have released their single 'Hopeful' which is Britain's biggest selling physical single this week.
