Pornhub, one of the largest 'adult entertainment' sites on the planet, has decided to enter the music business.
After reports earlier this year that Coolio (pictured) was signing to the site (later denied), it appears that the smut peddler's have bigger ideas in mind. As reported by Billboard, the label will be launched with a competition to find a Pornhub anthem. The winner, selected by 'high profile artists' will receive $5000 and a video. They even guarantee 500,000 views.
Head of PR Matt Blake, said in a statement, “We’ve always had a strong music presence from the beginning of PornHub. Artists upload their own stuff, like uncensored tracks and R-rated versions of songs. Some people come in and upload exclusive videos, so it creates a buzz for them.”
“We’re looking for acts that aren’t necessarily porn-focused,” VP Corey Price said. “We’re an ad-based network looking for content that appeals to our demographic. Mature lyrics for an adult audience; no boy bands or teen-pop, for instance.” So far entries have included a range of submissions including “erotic folk, rap, country.”
