John 'Rotten' Lydon has opened up about the death of his former Sex Pistols bandmate Sid Vicious saying, he feels "a bit responsible" for his overdose and death.
Lydon was speaking at the Cheltenham Literature Festival this weekend promoting his memoir Anger Is An Energy.
"He didn't stand a chance," said Lydon. "His mother was a heroin addict. I feel bad [that] I brought him into the band. He couldn't cope. I feel a bit responsible for his death."
He subsequently described how he had "confessed my demons."
Lydon recently clashed with John Humphreys on Radio 4's Today programme with the presenter tackling the punk on his credentials given he was 'selling butter on television' leading to Lydon memorably announcing "Butter, butter, butter! It's lovely it's yummy stuff."
