A man in the US has been sentenced to life in prison after he shot and killed a tenenager over loud music.
Michael Dunn, a gun collector, was spared the death penalty, but his sentence does not include opportunity for parole.
According to The New York Post, Dunn fired ten shots into a vehicle full of teenagers outside a petrol station, following a heated argument over the volume of their music. 17-year-old Jordan Davis, who was in the vehicle, was killed.
At Friday's sentencing hearing, Dunn said: "I want the Davis family to know that I truly regret what happened. If I could roll back time and do things differently, I would. I am mortified that I took a life whether it was justified or not."
Speaking during the sentencing, Judge Russell Healey commented, "Mr. Dunn, your life is effectively over. What is sad ... is that this case exemplifies that our society seems to have lost its way."
