Marilyn Manson has spoken out to distance himself from a controversial video that depicted Lana Del Rey in a rape scene.
Yesterday, a clip reportedly directed by Eli Roth (Hostel) appeared online - sparking outrage due to its upsetting and graphic content, which many argued to be 'glamorising' rape, while others said it should exist purely as a piece of art.
The video has now been taken down following legal action, however a spokesman for Manson has told Pitchfork that this was not his project.
"Manson did not direct this, shoot it, nor was it for a Marilyn Manson video or outtake footage made by him or to be used by him with his music," said Manson's representative, Kathryn Frazier of Biz3. "It must be a fan video splicing up old Manson video footage with someone else's Lana Del Rey footage."
The initial purpose of the footage remains unclear.
"The footage is so sick, it's been locked in a vault for over a year," said Roth in an interview with Larry King, "but Manson is a friend."
Meanwhile, Marilyn Manson will be releasing his new album The Pale Emperor on 19 January. He will also be playing Download Festival in June. For tickets and more information, visit here.
