Apple will reportedly make its Beats Music subscriptions service part of its iOS software from early in 2015, pre-loading every iPhone and iPad with the service.
The Financial Times claims that this will happen as early as March and will serve as an attempt to encourage Apple’s iTunes customers to try the streaming service. Beats is expected to be rebranded when it relaunches in the new year.
It comes as no surprise that Apple will be pushing the streaming service as the company admitted in October that sales of music downloads on iTunes have been declining in 2014.
Academy Award Winning musician Trent Reznor who serves as Beats Music’s chief creative officer, hinted to Billboard that he was working on new features for the service, saying: “Beats was bought by Apple, and they expressed direct interest in me designing some products with them. I can’t go into details, but I feel like I’m in a unique position where I could be of benefit to them. It’s exciting to me, and I think it could have a big enough impact that it’s worth the effort. I’m fully in it right now, and it’s challenging, and it’s unfamiliar and it’s kind of everything I asked for – and the bad thing is it’s everything I asked for.”
