The long-delayed film ‘Get It While You Can’ detailing the life of Janis Joplin, will finally begin shooting in the second half of 2015.
Amy Adams has was previously confirmed to play the role of Joplin, but there was no director attached to the project. Now, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ director Jean-Marc Vallée is is negotiations to helm the picture.
Ron Terry, who executive produced a TV movie about Jimi Hendrix in 2000 wrote the script along with Teresa Kounin Terry but now Craig Borten and Melisa Wallack, who co-wrote ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ together, are in talks to re-write it.
Although Joplin died young at age 27, she left behind a remarkable legacy. Joplin was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 and was ranked 46th on Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 Greatest Singers of All-Time.
Fans of music biopics should get excited about 2015 as several interesting pictures will be developed over the next calendar year including films about rap group N.W.A., Guns N’ Roses and Hank Williams.
