Lily Allen is the latest of many musicians to criticise the Band Aid 30 single, put together by Sir Bob Geldof in order to raise money in aid of the Ebola crisis.
The song has become the fastest selling single of the year, but many feel as though the song perpetuates misconceptions about Africa.
Allen revealed to the Mail on Sunday that she did in fact received a request to appear on the single, saying: “It’s difficult to give an explanation why I didn’t do it without sounding like a complete cunt… I prefer to do my charitable bit by donating actual money and not being lumped in with a bunch of people like that. It’s like the ‘success club’ and I’m not really in that club. I don’t think I’m above it all - I’m way below it. But there’s something a bit smug about it.”

Other artists such as Adele and Fuse ODG also turned down the chance to appear on the song.
Geldof however, has rejected all criticism of Band Aid and its participants, telling Sky News that critics were “talking bollocks”.
