Wayne Static's last interview has been published online, and it's an incredible read.
The piece published by Revolver sees Static promoting a tour with Drowning Pool and Powerman 5000, before the interviewer asks: "parting words, what would you like your fans to know?".
Reading like an elegy in retrospect, his response is a brilliant testament to a man who has renowned as one of the nicest in metal.
Read the extract in question below:
"It’s been a long journey and honestly, I can’t believe that I’m still relevant to the music scene. I can’t believe I’m still touring and still making records. I never in a million years expected all this. It’s all because of my fans. I have the best fans in the world. They’re hardcore and diehard. I do it all for them. I keep going for them. I want to keep everyone happy and excited. I realize that’s my job. The reason I’m on this planet is to make people happy. I used to think my job was to rock out with my cock out and shit like that, but that’s not my job. My job is to make people happy. I go on stage and I see people’s faces light up and I see everyone smiling. I don’t see people fucking banging their heads and shit, I see everyone smiling at me, having a good time and singing along. I’m just really glad that I can provide that service to everyone and take an hour out of everyone’s shitty day, so that they can have a good time and enjoy themselves. So thanks you to all of my fans for sticking by me. I’m going to keep doing what I’m doing ’til I’m dead."
